A useful distinction
Two-dimensional coordinates locate positions within a defined space. The origin and direction of the axes depend on the environment. Moving to a larger vertical coordinate does not universally mean moving upwards on the screen.
Put it into practice
Draw a grid and mark its origin and axis directions. Place a token at a known coordinate, then describe one move numerically and visually. Use the chosen engine’s convention consistently when testing boundaries; a sketch with an unstated origin can conceal a simple direction error.
