Pause and Motion Preferences

A pause control needs a defined effect.

A useful distinction

Pausing might stop active timing while leaving a settings panel usable. Motion preferences concern how effects are presented. These are related design questions, but stopping animation and stopping gameplay are not automatically the same operation.

Put it into practice

Describe what continues and what stops when paused. Test the control through supported input methods. Consider reduced-motion preferences when choosing nonessential effects, using the applicable platform guidance rather than treating a decorative animation switch as a complete accessibility solution.
